This green building project was the construction of a new 2,600 sq. ft Healthy home designed by
Holland & Foley Architecture L.L.C., a firm specializing in Environmental Architecture. This home is built using approved green & healthy methods and
materials, and features high efficiency radiant heating, a whole-house ventilation system, polyurethane foam insulation, and a low maintenance exterior.
The home was finished in June 2009 and we hope to add completion photos soon.

Peter Nicol our Excavation Contractor has completed site preparation and here the foundation footings are being formed.
The concrete footings are completed and the internal perimeter drain piping is in place. Note the steel reinforcing rod which will tie the footings to the foundation walls. The mound of crushed stone will be spread out within the footings as a base for the concrete basement floor.
Forming the concrete foundation walls.
Pouring, or in this case pumping, the walls. Site conditions prevented pouring from a concrete
truck as normally done, so here the concrete is delivered to a pump rig with a boom that
reaches across the site, placing the mix into the forms.
The foundation walls are stripped of their forms. Rigid styrofoam is in place as the insulation for the concrete floor. The PVC pipe near the center is the visible part of an underfloor radon venting system.
Radiant heat tubing is imbedded within the concrete floor of the entry / mudroom.
In the background is the completed concrete basement floor.
First floor framing in progress. The open web floor joists will allow the wiring, piping, and ducting for ventilation & air conditioning to run within the floor frame instead of underneath, resulting in a basement that is more useable for working and living space.
First floor deck framing completed.
Pex tubing installation.
First floor Warmboard installation completed.
